Company History
NVIDIA was founded in 1993 by Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky, and Curtis Priem. It popularised the term 'GPU' with the GeForce 256 in 1999 and introduced CUDA in 2006, which turned GPUs into general-purpose parallel computers and became the foundation of the deep-learning revolution. Its A100 (2020) and H100 (2022) data-center GPUs became the de facto standard for training large language models, and the Blackwell architecture followed in 2024. Surging AI demand made NVIDIA one of the world's most valuable companies, surpassing a $3 trillion market capitalisation in mid-2024.
