About Harvey AI
Harvey is an AI platform built specifically for law firms and legal departments, using fine-tuned LLMs to assist with legal research, contract analysis, due diligence, litigation drafting, and regulatory compliance. Backed by OpenAI and top law firm investors, Harvey is the leading AI platform for the legal industry, with clients including Allen & Overy, PwC, and the US Air Force legal department.
Company History
Harvey was founded in 2022 by Winston Weinberg (ex-lawyer) and Gabriel Pereyra (ex-DeepMind researcher). It uses fine-tuned versions of GPT-4 and other frontier models trained specifically on legal data, court decisions, and regulatory texts. Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman) became its anchor enterprise client in early 2023. The OpenAI Fund backed Harvey early, giving it privileged access to GPT-4 fine-tuning. By 2024 Harvey was the most-funded legal AI startup globally.
