About Amazon / AWS
Amazon Web Services is the world's leading cloud platform and a pivotal force in enterprise AI infrastructure. Through Amazon Bedrock (multi-model AI API), Amazon SageMaker (end-to-end ML platform), Amazon Q (enterprise AI assistant), and Amazon Nova models, AWS enables tens of thousands of enterprises to build and deploy AI at scale. Amazon has also committed $8B+ to Anthropic.
Company History
AWS launched in 2006 and became the world's dominant cloud platform. AI infrastructure has been core to AWS since SageMaker (2017) and the AI/ML services suite. The 2023 launch of Bedrock marked AWS's move into managed LLM APIs, competing with Azure OpenAI. Amazon's $8B+ Anthropic investment makes it the largest strategic backer of Anthropic alongside Google. The Amazon Nova model family (Nov 2024) gives AWS its own frontier models.
